Autumnal Leaf 1
Leaves are the symbols of spiritual
continuity. Grow, fall, rest.. The metaphor for life is too simplistic:
they are the metaphor for breath. In, out, rest. Each leaf is a meditation
on the fundamental technicalities of life.
Autumnal leaves are beautifully stunning
in their colours and textures. They could be made of leather, skin, the
skin of the body that grows, falls and rests. The growth is unmistakable.
The frailty is in your breath. The strength is in your soul.

Orchid
The orchid is a symbol of sexuality and
strength, powerful but often trivialized. Commercialized in recent years,
orchids are available for little cost at corner stores. They have become
disposable, ignorable, representing a non-committed flight of fancy. This
painting is not.
This orchid is unique to itself. Its
availability is restricted, its cost puts it beyond the reach of many. It
is not disposable, it is not a flight of fancy. This painting is committed
to the sexuality and strength it portrays.

Pansy
Secrets abound inside the pansy.
Surrounded by a universe of mystery, the pansy holds powerful qualities
which belie their reputation. Only in mindfully experiencing this power
will you ever fully understand it.

Books and Bag
An old leather hand-stitched bag can carry
a remarkable collection of magical things wrapped in time and life and
death. The bag is worn with use, discolored from life's journey, strong,
natural, and full of magic -- a fair and accurate representation of the spirit
within. Keeping a book used to cost a witch her life, if it was to be
discovered. But the smart witch knows secrets of nature to hide her words.
Invisible inks, runes, spiritual symbols of transformation. A book
can get you killed even today. Owning it, writing it, reading it. They are
some of the most dangerous things anyone can possess.

Besom
Besoms are used to sweep out bad energy
from a space. Using a besom and sweeping the air, all in the same
direction toward a door or window, will clean a room of bad energy, or
even just used up, tired energy. By getting rid of the old and bringing in
the new, you are healthier and spiritually stronger.

Pan
A representation of the God is typical in
the home of a witch. I have both the Green Man and Pan, both of whom are
sides of the same coin. Pan represents a joyful and active sexuality, and
he is looking like the mischievous little fellow that he is. He is a
god of the forest, and so the background is moss and rock and forest
canopy.

Flowers and Herbs
Rose petals and dandelion, rosemary and
burdock can be ground in a mortar and infused with the magic of shark
teeth and other unexpected objects to create powerful spells. Herbs and
flowers in the hands of a witch can become powerful tools when
imbued with energy and magic.
