| Filmed at Canada's first gay and lesbian comedy festival held in Toronto, this comic documentary features eleven of the best known and funniest queer comedians in North America:. Intercut between clips from each comedian's routine are behind-the-scenes interviews. The culturally diverse comedians talk about the motivations, obstacles, struggles, pleasures, and success of being an openly out performer. They also tell of their struggles against homophobia in the entertainment industry, their family life growing up gay/lesbian and how their sexual orientation has become an integral part of their approach to comedy and their craft. In this irreverent and quite funny film, producer/director David Adlon (Jim Loves Jack) deftly blends information and humor to prove that the power of laughter can overcome social barriers. |
