| Inspired by The Devils of Loudun, with a dash of Romeo and Juliet thrown in, this hyperventilating nunsploitation epic has it all: Lesbianism, murder, crazed nuns, devil-worship, sex, bouncing breasts, whipping, and the sickness of the Inquisition thrown in for good measure. The story revolves around Lucita, a young woman thrown into a convent to keep her away from her boyfriend. But the convent is far from tranquil, as Lucita's lesbian roommate (a fetching lass) is found murdered and Lucita is accused of the deed. More dead bodies appear and the mystery deepens -- could the real culprit be the demented Mother Superior, a power-hungry lesbian with a taste for sadism and innocent girls? Or is the murder among the many other sick (but voluptuous) sisters? A film that makes Ken Russell's The Devil seem like the Singing Nun in comparison! (Italian with English subtitles) |
